Personal Space

The company wanted to renovate our floor thus we were all moved to another floor temporarily for 2 months or so.

I used to have a super large workspace:

Now, I have a quarter of the workspace I used to have at this temp floor:

But I was so happy with my new place cos hor... there are 2 types of cubicles on this floor...

  1. The spacious ones - like the type that I used to have at my original floor... but instead of being occupied by 1 person, it has to be shared among 3 people
  2. The small tiny ones - like the one I have now... tho small, it seemed rather cute and I have my own personal space :)

So net net... am still very happy with it. But guess what... The floor that we are occupying now, more like the side we're occupying now was left empty for the longest time ever. Since moving here (ya, we moved floors during the Hungry Ghost Festival), one by one... my colleagues fell sick (I was already sick before I moved...) and one of my colleagues who is a sensitive apparently sensed "things" floating... O_o

G in M'sia!!!

One of the most anticipated concerts of the year finally happened on 21 August 2007 at Bukit Jalil Putra Indoor Stadium: GS "TSET 2007". Earlier on, we had to deal with threats to cancel the concert as 10,000-member National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said her normal skin-baring act could erode Islamic values. After that, the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party 'pulak' started accusing her of promoting promiscuity and corrupting the country's youth.

Thank god, the US pop star; GS was a true entertainer who not only respected our country's "values" but were also willing to make conscious efforts in abiding the ruling. That night, GS was all dolled up but was barely showing any skin. She stayed true to her promise to be a "good girl" at the concert where she covered her tight-fitting tops in jackets, and sported leotards under her dresses and mini-skirts.

Halfway thru the concert, she belted out "I am practically Malaysian," to 10,000 screaming fans, including Muslim mothers in traditional headdress toting their young daughters, and members of a militant student group which had initially protested her concert. "I just want you to know I am very inspired tonight," she said. "You are a very, very amazing audience."

And if you don't already know... GS has a special affinity for Malaysia because her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale had relatives in Kuala Lumpur. At one part of the concert, she even waved a miniature Malaysian flag and said thank you in our local language. Thanks to her, we averted a potential disaster when she promised to dress modestly.

Most international stars would've just cancelled the show and move on to other countries in the tour list but not GS! Not only did she do what she promised to, she also gave us her very BEST throughout the entire concert! Being in the midst of the 10,000 screaming fans, I was certain that everyone felt it in their hearts that GS was truly sincere and was singing and entertaining us to the best of her ability!

After the concert, I felt an even stronger affinity towards her! Never have I cheered so loud and clapped so much in a concert! :) And yes! I would definitely name her the BEST ENTERTAINER of the YEAR! GS RULEZ and thank you for making Malaysia one of the stops in the amazing "S-E-T"!!!

And here's a pict of me with GS and her ever famous "Harajuku" girls:

Graduation

Hmmm, so many things happened in the past 2 weeks...
(which kinda also explains why the lack of posts)...

My brother has finally gotten his 1st degree! The entire family went up to Penang last week for his graduation ceremony on 18 August 2007. Well, more like my parents cos only 2 per family. So I went up on Saturday evening instead for the family studio shot...

Here's a shot of my little bro looking all smart and handsome in his graduation robe...

So to "boy"... Well done and welcome to the graduates club!!! But ahem... no more pocket money for you ler... Muahahahahahaha... :P

Hijacked

The other day as I was in the SMART tunnel, the radio station that I was listening to (Hitz.FM) was hijacked by the SMART tunnel command center announcing that traffic was slow moving at the exit of Jalan Tun Razak and that we should exit using Jalan Sultan Ismail.

It was a short announcement in Malay followed by the annoucement in English. Happened rather quickly and Hitz.FM resumed broadcast after the announcement. But the second time it happened, the gap was waaaaaaaaay longer... think the guy forgot to tune back or sth... Hehehe...

The One

A friend of mine recently started a new relationship. Although to external parties, he seemed like a player... deep down I think he's just actively searching for "the one" to share his life with. Listening to him, one can't help but wonder if one is truly ready for marriage.

Ponder upon these:
  • Are you willing to face the same person 365 a year; him/her being the last person you see before you go to sleep and the first person you see when you wake up every morning?
  • Are you willing to sacrifice your personal interests and modify your lifestyle for the benefits of the new "family unit" you guys have made?
  • Are you willing to share your ups and downs and practically your entire life with the person without reservations?
  • Are you willing to accept the idiosyncrasies of the person without the desire to suffocate him / her in his / her sleep?
  • Are you willing to share the great responsibilities and burden of starting a family together?
  • Are you willing to compromise on differences and work on the relationship tirelessly?
  • And the list goes on...

No one can ever tell you if you've indeed found "the one" but yourself. Running away believing that everything will fall into place one way or another is just an act of a coward. Stand up! Pluck up the courage and face truth courageously! It is always better for it to be sooner than later!

I know... it's always easier said than done... sigh...
