Been wanting to eat "Musang King" durian for several days now. Finally got to eat yesterday!!! I love my durian sweet and chilled. So yummilicious!!! :)

Today I had a massive lower abdominal pain that sent me running to the loo right after dinner at the in laws. My stomach was so painful that I was drenched in cold sweat while trying to pooh. The pain was so intense that I had to change to a squatting position. Subsequently I rushed home while Hb was still having dinner, told him I had stomachache and needed to go home to pooh and dashed out without a second glance.

On the way home, although it was only a short 2min walk, I felt like I was going to pass out. My vision was kinda blurry and cold sweat was just dripping off my forehead like an eternal fountain! I had to force myself to take long deep breath so that I don't pass out in the street!!!

Thankfully I made it home and quickly continued my toilet saga! Can't remember how long it lasted but by the time I was done, I was completely exhausted. The last time I experienced such intense pain was when I was 12 years old, where doctor said that my intestines were knotted up with air inside. Dunno what triggered it, but I suspect it was because I held my pee too long the other day. The lower abdominal pain lasted 3 days... thankfully it has somewhat subsided now.

Moral of the story? Go when you have to go...

Good friends are truly hard to come by. If you have, remember to cherish the fond times and memories together!!! :D

Here's me and my good friend yakking for hours though we're 7 hours apart! Thanks to Skype & WiFi, it ain't expensive to video call at all... with her in London and me in KL. :D

The team was so happy cos our TVs have arrived and the technicians were busy installing them!

But then after installing, we were told that the cards need to be activated. So ermmm, the excitement only lasted several minutes.

I've been staring at my blank TV screen for 2 days now... hehehe and my DVD player's coming next week! So in the meantime, it's just nice to know that I've got a TV installed in my cubicle. So much easier to view screeners / DVDs vs. using my tortoise laptop.

Simple pleasures in life! Naisssss!!! :D

It's the year of the Dragon and at the beginning of it all, my tension headache from 2006 returned coupled with a crazy insomnia that saw me sleeping at 5ish everyday. :(

Hopefully this is just a phase that will end as soon as it started. Just like what Lillian Too said. Perhaps it's the arrival of the Dragon energy to signify the start of a brand new year!!!

So ya, here's to a healthy & happy 2012!!! TQ TQ!!!

Been ages since I last worked till the end of the year. As a matter of fact, don't think I ever did!!! On good years, I'd take 2 weeks off leading to New Year. On special occasion i.e. the year I got married, I took the entire MONTH off!!! On normal years, at the very least also I'll take several days!!!

So ya. Dunno what to make of this cos I am kinda tired and burnt out but there are really lots to be done. Besides, my entire team is 2 weeks old and I'm leaving them for a week in Jan to celebrate my wedding anniversary with Hb in Beijing!

So it's ok la!!! Tomorrow's already the LAST working day in 2011!!! Yippieeeeeee!!!

Wanted to get a pet rabbit, specifically a Hollandlop breed. But Hb said no, it will die of hunger since I am only back during weekends. So sad. :(

Hb told me to download Skype. After I downloaded, tried registering but then it says I have already registered. After fiddling for awhile, finally managed to log in! Now I can see Hb even when he's not in town! Better still it works on 3G!!! Yahoo!

On a separate note, am so glad I went for Lasik yonks ago. No need to change glasses or wear contact lense... so naissssssss... :P

Yesterday, after dinner at MIL's place, we borrowed our neighbour's bicycle and cycled around the compound of MIL's house. Surprisingly, I still know how to cycle!!! Hoooohoooo...

Then the same night, a colleague posted a photo of her A-Bike on Facebook!!!

Looks damn good!!! So tempted to get one or two!!! Then Hb and I could go cycling around the neighborhood!

Merry Christmas!!! Can't believe the year is coming to a close di. This year seemed to pass by so quickly!!! But then it also means that we're closer to our Beijing trip in January for our yearly anniversary celebration!!!

Hb and I visited Aeon Bulit Tinggi in Klang with the intention of getting new winter jackets. Thing is, we've been wearing the same jackets for several winter trips now; Beijing, Shanghai, South Korea that somehow the photos all look the same! So we figured it's high time to invest in new ones.

Hb was quick is identifying what he likes! A white one with 90% down and 10% feather! I on the other hand am torn between a short one (waist length) or a medium one (butt length) to replace my current long one (knee length)...

Hb said the medium length one looked nicer. But instead of pink, maybe get the champagne colored one. But hmmm, the cutting ain't too flattering. Since it's not exactly cheap ~RM650, thought of sleeping on it first before buying.

On the way we also stopped by Machines for Hb to get a new casing and screen protector for his iPhone. While waiting for the screen protector to be stuck on, we played around with the photo booth on one of the Macs and laughed our heads off!!! We looked like Chipmunks don't you think? Hehehe...

For dinner, we went to Sakae Sushi. As usual I had my favorite Unagi while Hb ordered soft shell crab set. We even had Sake, a small 250ml bottle which tasted yummy and all but gave me a headache thereafter!

So that was how we spent our Christmas la. Merry Christmasss!!! :D

For some strange reasons, it brought tears to my eyes seeing so many Chinese coming together... :)

I was truly depressed today. Went to another office to get my junior staff to transfer relevant materials as handover materials to me. During the entire duration, it suddenly dawned upon me that both the junior and senior staff actually did a lot in the past 1 year on their own. With literally zero budget and cross functional support, they tried their very best in doing what they could.


In the end, what did they get? They got transferred to another company and was put under the scrutiny of the mother company. And worst still, got a boss whom has zero industry knowledge. Do I blame them for wanting out? I don't. As a matter of fact, I could understand and empathize.


However, it depresses me to know that it was such a pity that they wrote me off the first time we met. Or perhaps the moment they heard of my name and my designation before we even had a chance to work together. I asked myself over and over again, if I could have done anything in my capacity to prevent this... but I couldn't answer.

Me: I reserved a unit of DSLR for you di!
Hb: Huh? Which brand / model?
Me: Let me send you the photo!

How often in life do one get to see 2 lizards showing their "love" to one another?! It must be my lucky day!!!

The hardest thing about changing to a new job is that once the initial excitement wears off, reality kicks in. To everyone else, you are just an idiot who got lucky; unless and until proven otherwise. To your superiors, you are to show what you are made of i.e. if you were really as good as what you claimed to be. To yourself, at this point, you are just beginning to wonder if you indeed made the right move.

It is no wonder that people choose to stay in their comfort zones. Why leave? It's a fucking jungle out there with dangerous animals waiting to prey on you and every turn you make, there is something unseen lurking round the corner; waiting to attack and gnaw you alive!

My gawd! Save me!!!

Historical milestone today on my blogging journey. For years I've blogged under the handle "maemee". It was my name in Teochew which held a special meaning cos' my favourite grandpa used to call me that. However, after marriage, I felt that the name does not resonate too well with my life stage at this point. So I've decided to change my handle to "ON9LA1" instead which signifies my life as Mrs. Ong. With that, I deleted the old "ON9LAI" (which is basically empty) and exported "maemee" to "Mrs. ON9LA1".  :)

It's been ages since I last logged in to Blogger. Been so busy and stressed out with so many things. Suffice to say that life has been good and productive. Definitely more on this later. Now that I've got an iPad, blogging should be instantaneous! Hehehehe...

Crazy day today! Attended a simulation workshop where I was supposedly the MD of a Hospital tasked to turn around the business via convergence of existing business units and expansion into new areas of opportunities.

Super tight schedule and we were even assigned an "assistant" each who'll remind us of our meetings with COO, CEO and Board of Directors (BOD)! And if that wasn't enough, they even had psychiatrists observing us in all our one to one meetings with COO and CEO as well as our presentation to the BOD! Plus, everything's captured on video for our personal reflection tomorrow with the psychiatrist!!!

Halfway through the preparation of our plans, I was "summoned" to meet 2 "reporters" who were there to interrogate me about a patient who turned PINK after drinking the prescribed cough mixture by our hospital! I was expected to provide an official statement there and then and these "reporters" even came with an audio recording device to record my statement!!!

Then out of the blue, my "assistant" reminded me of my meeting with the COO. And this happened nearly immediately after we got our brief i.e. no time to even finish reading up!!! And the biggest mistake I did was not checking with my "assistant" on the org. structure of the hospital and it's subsidiaries!!! Where I came from, a COO is the 2nd in command after CEO but here... this COO supposedly reports to me but was secretly eyeing my seat!!! The meeting was disastrous and I had to cut it short!!!

Then just as I began to deep dive into our plans, my CEO sent me a nasty email asking me to sort out a bad publicity from a patient who died from wrong prescriptions! I was whisked away to a corner with laptop; away from my team to draft a press release to address the negative publicity!!!

Just when I thought there were no more surprises, came my meeting with the CEO this time round! Luckily, we had slightly more time to prepare and the subject of discussion; strategic long term plans that I have in mind for the hospital was an area of my functional expertise! Again, the psychiatrist was also present and I was sweating profusely!

The last meeting of the day was the presentation of our plans to the BOD and boy were we bashed to the max!!! The day was supposed to end 5 sharp but thanks to the severe thrashings from the BOD, both teams had to stay back till 10.30pm at night to polish our decks!!! Why? Cos the final round of presentation to the BOD along with our real-life senior management team will be tomorrow at 10am SHARP!!!

I'VE BEEN CAUGHT OFF GUARD NUMEROUS TIMES TODAY!!! AND I AM SO TIRED AND EXHAUSTED AND BRAIN DEAD!!! HELPPPPP!!!

See! I'm awake yet again at odd hours. Was so tired and exhausted that I slept at 9ish. But when I do that, I often wake up between 3am and 4am!!! Grrrrr... will force myself to sleep somemore! Nite!!!
