B.o.o.m.d.e.y.a.d.a!!!

Unlike conventional team building activities which involve paint ball, bowling, treasure hunt, jungle trekking etc etc... our team building consists of: A visit to A.q.u.a.r.i.a K.L.C.C... followed by a BOOZE session in a club... with Live Performances... in the middle of a working day... and shooting a video "beramai-ramai"... I must say, that this is one of the BEST team building ever... and ohhh... everything was done indoor and that made it even more perfecttt...

Here's the editor's cut ala bloopers captured during the making of B.o.o.m.d.e.y.a.d.a... the D.i.s.c.o.v.e.r.y C.h.a.n.n.e.l song... but with new lyrics... :-)

And here's the final outcome...

:-)

TLC

Throughout the entire ordeal… I had a mixed of emotions…

I was extremely scared…
But I can’t show it to anyone particularly my parents…
Cos if I do, they will be even more worried about me…

I was extremely sad and guilty…
What if the polyp affects my fertility?
Will I still be able to have kids with OWLoon?
Will he still love me whole heartedly if I can’t?

Fortunately, the doctor said that it will not affect my fertility and that all I needed to do was to have it removed. Throughout the entire journey, my family and OWLoon has been extremely supportive… particularly OWLoon; who was there for me when I needed him the most…

He accompanied me for all my gynae visits…

He even ate my hospital meal so that he doesn't have to leave me alone and also cos I had to fast before the surgery…

He sat/slept next to me when I was asleep…

He attended to my every need when I was awake…

He updated my parents, my family and his family when they called to ask about my status…

Most importantly, he was the first person I saw when the nurse woke me up after the surgery…

Here's a photo of me all changed, waiting to be discharged...

I was away from work for 3 days in a row and my colleagues had been truly understanding... instead of calling me bout my projects in hand, they sent me sunflowers wishing me a speedy recovery...

Am glad I went thru this ordeal with the support of my loved ones, family and friends... with so much tender, loving care...

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart...

Surgery Ordeal

Past 1 month had been passing rather slowly... and I have been feeling miserable, sad and scared at the same time... here's why:

Jun 26, 2009
Was supposed to go for my 1st gown fitting at B.r.i.d.a.l C.o.n.c.e.p.t that morning but my mom said her lower abdomen was painful. Hence, we detoured to Pantai Cheras to visit her gynecologist first. Since I was there, I took a pap smear test too… and that was when the doc said I have a cervical polyp (a "yuk lau" in Cantonose). According to Wikipedia, a cervical polyp is a common benign polyp or tumor on the surface of the cervical canal. It causes irregular menstrual bleeding or increased pain but often show no symptoms. In my case, it was intense pain during menses.

I was so worried and scared when he told me that the size of the polyp was ~3.5cm in diameter and that it was located in my uterus. I had wanted to have it removed immediately, but the doc gave me medicine (Duphaston) which I was to diligently take for 2 weeks to see if the polyp disappears on its own.

Jul 27, 2009
It was day 14 of my menses; my appointment with the gynecologist again. This time, I had 2 issues. First was that my menses came a week earlier than it was supposed to and secondly, it last a week longer than my normal menses. It was day 14 and yet, I was still bleeding. Thus, when the doc told me that it was still there and that it has to be surgically removed, it didn't come as a big surprise.

Jul 28, 2009
9.00am… Was scheduled for a surgery to remove the polyp at 3.00pm today and hence was admitted into the ward. First thing they did was to get me changed into their blue hospital robe and almost instantly 2 young nurses came in and shaved my ahem… down there. It was so embarrassing and uncomfortable but it was part of the procedure…

2.00pm… Out of no where 2 nurses came with a bed and told me it’s time… I was wheeled into a tunnel like place with at least 3 doors and 3 stops. At each stop, the air cond gets colder and the noise level decreases… At each stop, I was asked the same 3 questions: (1) Are you allergic to any medication? (2) Do you have dentures? (3) Are you wearing contact lenses now?

2.15pm… I was finally parked at the second stop prior to the operating theatre. A nurse came and undone the knots on my hospital robe… instead of me wearing the robe, it was now used like a blanket to cover me… along with a blanket…

2.30pm… Yet another nurse came and this time she inserted a needle/tube on the back of my palm and the pain was so intense! My doctor popped by too and asked if I was OK.

2.45pm… I was wheeled into the operating theatre by at least 6 nurses. Felt so vulnerable, small and exposed here. The room felt bare, sanitized, cold and intimidating with huge lights above me…

3.00pm… The same nurse who inserted the needle/tube on me earlier came to give me the anesthetic jab. If it wasn't because I was inhaling oxygen at the time of the jab, I would have yelped out in pain. It was like the blood in my hand froze section by section and the pain that accompanied it was so intense and crippling! So painful that I subconsciously tried to move my arm but was unable to cos my left arm was strapped to the extension of the bed. When the pain reached my shoulder, I must have passed out cos that was my last recollection of what happened.

4.00pm… Another nurse woke me up… and this time I was back at the first stop… with OWLoon next to me… Here, I was told that the operation was over and was shown a bottle of liquid with the polyp floating. After seeing it, I must have dozed off cos I remembered feeling extremely tired and sleepy that I couldn't open my eyes any second longer…

6.00pm… Finally woke up with OWLoon next to me… All was OK except the lower abdomen pain and the menses-like bleeding… And oh... the back of my hand hurts too as the needle/tube was still attached even after the surgery.

Sometimes, it's worth reminding oneself that life is precious and that we should strive to make it beautiful...

Ka-Ching!!!

Finally got the final payout today...
Not sure if there's more to come given the numerous rumours...
But for now, it's the final batch di... and am happy!!!

Confirmed Band

After rounds of discussions with my family, we finally decided to go with E.m.p.i.r.e E.n.t.e.r.t.a.i.n.m.e.n.t as our performers for the night cos' of all the bands we saw, this band is a bit more unique in a sense that they cleverly performs not just Chinese but Western music and songs in Celtic, Italian, Thai, French, Latin and more using traditional Chinese instruments like Guzhen (Chinese Zither), Erhu (Chinese 2-String Violin), Western Violin, Dizi (Chinese Bamboo Flute) and Zhong Ruan (Chinese Guitar).

This afternoon, I finally met K.G., the Founder of the company. He's also one of the performers in all the other bands in his company... from Shanghai Angels to Empire String Quartet to Killer Girls etc etc and is a nice, friendly guy :-).

Charges for this band: RM3,500.00 (with Sound System)
Duration: ~ 2 hours
Terms: 1st half payment upon confirmation, balance after performance

Check out their video...

Wedding Bands

It just dawned upon me that we're 5 months away from our wedding day... Hence, I had to spend the past few days scouting for a 3-piece band to perform... I evaluated 3 different companies:

R.h.u.m.b.a E.n.t.e.r.t.a.i.n.m.e.n.t
I love this band the most! It's exactly what I wanted and what I had in mind. Unfortunately, they were already booked on Nov 29, 2009. :(

M.o.s.a.i.c M.u.s.i.c E.v.e.n.t.s
Famous for their violinist; D.e.n.n.i.s L.a.u. Charges for a 3-piece band with Saxophone, Keyboard and Vocalist: RM2,700 (without Sound System) and RM3,300 (with Sound System).

E.m.p.i.r.e E.n.t.e.r.t.a.i.n.m.e.n.t
Specifically the band called K.G. & T.h.e K.i.l.l.e.r G.i.r.l.s... and are very highly recommended by my friend who works in the entertainment industry. But the videos showed that the girls were highly kinky. Plus, the guy I called (K.G.) said it's highly "interactive" when the girls are performing particularly when they do their ABBA sets... Charges for a group of 3-vocalists and 1 Keyboard-ist: RM3,500 (with Sound System).

T.h.e. M.3.T.r.i.o
Recommended by Colin... they performed at his wedding and if I remembered correctly, they were pretty good. Charges as follows: RM800 per musician (1 x Percussionist, 1 x Guitarist and 1 Female Vocalist) + RM600 for Sound System. Total RM3,000. But the good thing about this company is that they were eager to meet up to discuss my needs and they even said they'd do the vocalist march in for me as part of the package. Since they are also an event based company, they even have coordinator services... that I could hire... Charges are from RM300 to RM500.

Have to decide quick... Helppp!

Hello My Name Is...

We recently had a huge re-org at work. Today was the first team meeting with a mixture of newbies and oldbies and one of the agenda was to share a little bit more about ourselves in a show and tell manner... Mine was as follows:

About Me
If I were to describe myself, I'd say that I'm a family-oriented person. Of all the things in the world, I cherish my family more than anything and they are of utmost importance in terms of priority... And when it comes to the biggest milestone in my life, it has got to be me getting married at the end of the year...

Interests
I am a gadget lover. From PDAs to Digital Cameras to Mobile Phones, I have them all and are frequently changing them... I also love surfing... I read blogs online, research online and spend the bulk of my time online... But beyond Internet, I also love to read. Stuff that I read ranges from mystery to science fiction to horror stories to self help books to etc etc... And I am an avid believer of "feng shui". To me, for something to be passed on from so many centuries ago, it has got to have some form of truth in it... And finally, I like to travel cos it's the simplest and fastest way to learn more about the diversity of culture, heritage and history from the different parts of the world.

Hobbies
My favourite pass time has got to be sleeping. I love taking naps... but then of course, I also enjoy hanging out... having a drink or two (preferably alcoholic la...). And when I'm not ZZZzzz-ing and "lepak-ing", I spend my time blogging cos to me blogging about key events of one's life is a great way to reflect upon one's life later on... I also love watching TV... I am like "Homer Simpson"... a couch potato and my favourites are of course TVB dramas...

When forced to exercise, the only form of sport I like is swimming cos I dislike sweating... and swimming's the only activity that doesn't make you sweat like a pig (even if you do, because you're in the water, you just don't feel it)... And the other form of exercise that I do is of course Yoga given that I can't run very fast nor jump very high... hehehe...

Secrets
Stuff that others may or may not know about me include... Shopping. I shop like a man. I go into shopping malls with specific idea(s) as to what I'm looking for and I walk straight into the shop / boutique that sells it to get it. Shoes. Unlike your typical women... I don't see the need to spend on shoes. Sure I have a good pair of every category available like Sports shoes, high heels, work shoes, weekend shoes, winter boots etc but beyond that I don't fancy buying shoes. So long as I have a good pair for every occasion, I'm contended.

Dress / Skirt. I don't like wearing dresses or skirts. It's not like I don't look good in them, I just don't like wearing them. The only occasion you'll catch me in one would be weddings, corporate dinners or other formal occasions that require so. Cooking. I can't cook for nuts. I can't even cook eggs without burning them though it is something I would like to master in the near future.

So there you go. A bit more about myself... :)

To Remove or Not?

Today, I went back for my Ortho review again and this time with my mom and OWLoon. I had a loose bracket so the dentist had to reattach it. Then he also added 8-ring rubber loops in an attempt to close the gaps for my bottom jaw. The springs locations were also adjusted. The recent movement made them too near my bites and each time I eat, I bite into it...

16-03-2008: $1,100 [Deposit, X-Rays, Photos & Moulding]
30-03-2008: $ 870 [Deposit & Upper Braces Fitting]
20-04-2008: $ 423 [Extraction & Medication]
18-05-2008: $ 325 [Wire Change]
17-08-2008: $ 325 [Bottom Braces Fitting]
14-09-2008: $ 764 [Extraction, Frenectomy & Medication]
25-10-2008: $ 385 [Wire Change & Scaling]
23-11-2008: $ 385 [Wire Change & Rubber Loops Change & Scaling]
24-12-2008: $ 325 [Wire Change & Rubber Loops Change]
24-01-2009: $ 325 [Wire Change & Rubber Loops Change]
21-02-2009: $ 325 [Wire Change & Rubber Loops Change]
28-02-2009: $ 714 [Loose Bracket, 2 Screws, 4 Springs and 4 Crisscrossed Wires]
21-03-2009: $ 325 [Springs & Crisscrossed Wires Adjustment]
30-04-2009: $ 325 [Loose Bracket, Wires Change]
30-05-2009: $ 325 [Loose Bracket, Mini Wires Removal, Thicker Crisscrossed Wires]
04-07-2009: $ 325 [Loose Bracket, Springs Adjustment, 8-Ring Rubber Loops]

YTD Spent: $7,566.00

Then, since my pre-wedding photography's on Sep 15, followed closely by the reception dinners on Nov 29 and Dec 06 respectively, the dentist recommended that I remove my braces for several months. No point removing it for pre-wedding photography in Sept then 2 months later remove it again for the wedding dinners.

The good thing about this is that I will be braces free for at least 4 months before resuming my braces treatment. The last time I asked, he quoted me RM500 for removal but this time he said, he will charge me a lower fee of RM350... But the downside to this is that the gaps may not be visibly closed yet...

But since wearing braces for the photography and wedding dinners' out of the question all together, I have no choice. Will just have to pray hard that once it's removed (albeit temporarily), I'll look good!
