2007 Resolutions

This year seemed like the start of a new chapter in my life.

For one, I am officially 28 years old this year. All these while, whenever I'm asked my age, I'd automatically blurt out 26 as my age (even up till last year). But this year, I suddenly realised that I ain't 26 no more... and in fact, in another 2 years time, I will officially join the three-oh club...

Secondly, this is also the year that I started shouldering heavier responsibilities... I got my first property (will post more about this).

Thirdly, this will be the 10th year my bf and I are together and for the first time, we're starting to plan for our big day in 2 years time (then again, the house will only be ready in mid 2009 thus not sure when the exact date will be but hmmm... at least there is a plan...).

Lastly, I aim to venture out this year; be it in the form of employment in a new company, new country or even taking a long break; not sure yet... but this will be the year I start out (after so many years in the same company). Scary but I guess everybody goes thru this phase.

And you know what? Time surely does pass by very quickly. It was only 'yesterday' that Joanne (my niece) was born... remembered rushing to the hospital (before visiting hours are over) to take a glimpse at this latest addition to our family. Today... Joanne is 8 years old. This suddenly made me realise that time waits for no man and whether or not you like it, there's only 24 hours in a day and it's up to you to make the best out of it.

Thus this year (like every other year before this), I've drawn up new resolutions for myself:

Increase Savings
The fact that I've just got a new property - which will mean that I will be in debt for the next 15 years scares the shit out of me. So I guess no more impulse purchase on my end anymore... I've got this really bad habit of not checking out price tag before buying something. Half the time, I get a shock at the cashier when the amount is flashed out. So this year... I guess I really need to change my spending habit... and to diligently park aside more money for savings.

New Pastures
Whether or not it is a greener pasture, only time will tell but one thing for sure, I would like to start looking out. Felt like I've been doing the same thing, seeing the same familliar faces and following the same processes year in year out. Although there is a restructure / change of policies / job rotation in like every 6 months and the fact that 80% of newbies never last more than 6 months, I really think I've been in the same company for too many years and that it's time to look out...

Something Drastic
Every year, I tell myself that I need to do something drastic to my appearance...
2001 - Ditched glasses, started wearing contact lenses
2002 - Straightened hair for the first time
2003 - Changed entire wardrobe of work clothes
2004 - Coloured hair with streaks of blond highlights
2005 - Had fringe for the first time in many years
2006 - Permed hair + had Lasik to correct eye sight + lost 5kg
This year... I intend to do something to correct my slightly protruding upper teeth. I've always wanted to do this but am forever lacking the courage to do so (braces aren't exactly flattering you know...) but sigh... this is the year to do it... Why? Because I wanna look pretty when I get married and have many beautiful shots of me smiling (if you do not already know this, I can't smile properly without exposing at least 2 of my teeth... DAMN!).

So ya... will not be greedy... will settle for 3 new resolutions this year!

hey u - wow 10 yrs huh with your bf (not sure if i'm allow to mention his name or not, but just to be on the safe side)...how time flies...and buying property and planning your wedding and trying out greener pastures....indeed a very exciting a dn full-on year for you.....very happy for you and wish you both all the best.....

looks like most of us seems to think about the same things as we grow older....

puni and i have just moved in together in our first home....and am planning a wedding sometime next year.....

and i know colin and tsui mei has already brought a property too and also will be planning their wedding in a year or two (when their house is ready, i think)

all i can say is that, i sure am bladdy glad that we are all still keeping in touch eventhough is not as often as we would like to be....but hey, we always come back together one way or another.

also, i read about your bf's sis - all i can say is that she is the BIGGEST BIATCH that i ever know, not that i know her personally, but through reading your blog, i can really wring her neck like a dead chicken (don't think there is a relevance here, but what the heck!!!) apologize if i'm not making any sense!! hahhaa....

as for your question in friendster asking if i'm going back to KL or not soon, i might come back in dec for a friend's wedding, but nothing's been confirm yet.

but i sure damn well would like to see all of you - vickie, colin, daniel, kok eng and siew chin and everyone else whom i've known since high school :-)
